Physically I see the changes and so do my family, friends, and co-workers. Mentally I feel more confident at work and better in the clothes I wear on a daily basis. I am just more confident in everything I do.”

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

Matthew, 31, Pennsylvania.

Police Officer with Amtrak Police Department.

Former College football player.

Married with a baby on the way and an 8-year-old lab mix at home.

What brought you to the First In Family initially?

I came to First In for a change in my eating habits. I’ve always been about eating “right” but wanted to change up and see real results.

Heard about First In from my now coach and friend Adam Gagliardi.

I saw firsthand what it has done for Adam and thought it was worth trying out.

Tell us a little bit about your background and history with food.

Ever since I finished playing college football and transitioning to police work, I have been chasing eating right and working out.

Always ate the best I could but would struggle to see results.

After not seeing results I would give in go back to the comfort foods and have to start all over again once I put the weight I did lose back on.

It was a month to month struggle it felt like.

Drinking alcohol and the food that came after the alcohol were always the downfall.

What was the turning point in your life when you realized you needed to make a change?

Just seeing myself in a picture in my police uniform. Made me see the light.

I wanted to get in shape to be better at my job, feel better on a daily basis and better life at home.

Found out we were having a kid and that really stepped it up.

What was the journey like and what changes did you make?

Some of the changes that I made was just different portions of the food that I had already been eating.

Doing the program didn’t limit the food I could have which has helped me stay on track.

It has made life easier cause I can eat more than I was before.

Still doing the same workouts I did before which I see more results with now teamed with the new eating patterns.

How do you feel after making those changes?

Physically I see the changes and so do my family, friends, and co-workers.

Mentally I feel more confident at work and better in the clothes I wear on a daily basis.

I am just more confident in everything I do.

What did your friends/family think of your transformation?

My friends and family noticed the transformation right away and they are very supportive of everything that I am doing.

My wife helps out a ton with the food we make at home and places we choose to go out and eat.

Some still cant believe the weight I have lost in the short amount of time I Have been with First in.

Were you active or did you workout during your journey?

I stayed active and worked out during the journey. I Probably get to the gym about 5 times a week.

What does being First In mean to you?

What it means to me is a sense of pride.

I want to do this for myself and family, but also don’t want to let down the coaches and everyone who is supporting me through the journey.

What was the biggest challenge or change when you started with First In and how did you overcome it?

It wasn’t a big challenge when I started First In. I would always track my food and weigh it before I started so that part was easy.

For me it was staying consistent around my work schedule and really about the alcohol intake on my weekends off.

Once I got set on my plan everything came easy.

What’s next for you and where do you see this journey taking you in the future?

I’m continuing with first in for the foreseeable future.

I already met my goal of wanting to lose 50 pounds and keep it off, now I want to get to 75lbs lost.
